Since the coup, the Myanmar military has been systematically blocking access to the internet, mobile data and social media, and censoring media outlets to restrict the flow of information among the population. These tactics are not new: they have been used over the last decade to severely curtail media freedom in Myanmar, and are now taking the country back to the dark ages of censorship.

More than a 100 journalists have been arrested since February and nearly all independent media have been forced to shut down. International reporters are no longer allowed in the country.  Yet despite the extreme risks and difficulties, journalists are still reporting, informing the world and the Myanmar public to act and continue fighting for true democracy.
